To send a data request by email, use hcdatarequest@hennepin.us. The county also runs an online data request portal. You can inspect public data for free. Copies may cost money if the total goes over $50. That threshold includes all requests you make in a 30-day span. The county will let you know before they charge you. Under Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 13, all government data is presumed public unless state or federal law says it is not. You do not need to give your name or say why you want the data.

Hennepin County Attorney Phone Directory
The County Attorney's Office has one of the longest phone directories in Hennepin County. The main line for general info is 612-348-5550. Citizen information calls go to 612-348-2146. Each division has its own direct phone line. Adult Prosecution for violent crimes is at 612-348-5561. The Child Protection unit takes calls at 612-348-3027. Child Support questions go to 612-348-6392. The Domestic Abuse Service Center (DASC) can be reached at 612-348-5073, and TDD users can call 612-348-2620. Victim and Witness Assistance is at 612-348-4003 with TDD at 612-348-5875. The Juvenile Prosecution unit takes calls at 612-348-7916. Human Services Phone Numbers
The Hennepin County Human Services and Public Health department keeps its own privacy and data contact. The main phone line is 612-543-4887. You can fax documents to 612-317-6189. Property Records Phone Directory
Hennepin County property records are managed from the 6th floor of the Government Center. Call 612-348-3011 for help with property tax or records questions. An automated phone system runs Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. For a live person, call Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. You can also email pip@hennepin.us for property info.
The Property Information Search (PINS) tool lets you look up any parcel in the county by address, property ID number, or addition name. You can find tax amounts, assessment values, sales history, and recently recorded documents. For the automated phone line, you need your 13-digit property identification (PID) number.

The Recorder's Office handles real estate document recording, birth and death certificates (from 1997 on for Hennepin County events), marriage license applications, and military discharge recording. The Minnesota Judicial Branch covers court records for Hennepin County through the 4th Judicial District. You can search case records online at Minnesota Court Records Online (MCRO). This tool covers case searches by name, business, attorney, or case number. Public documents in civil, domestic abuse, and harassment cases are viewable online. Under the state data practices framework, you have the right to inspect public data for free. Copy fees are capped at 25 cents per page for 100 or fewer black-and-white pages. You do not need to show ID or explain why you want the data. If access is denied, the agency must cite the specific law that blocks it. You can challenge that decision through the Commissioner of Administration or file a complaint under Minnesota Statutes, section 13.085.
